Just for kicks

My officemates and i sometimes check out whether our clients/suppliers/hotel-staff-we-deal-with have friendster accounts. hehehe (Ev'l >=D) sometimes we find some accounts (which we add, if we feel like it, only after we're finished dealing with them on a professional basis) and sometimes we don't.

It so happened that in our last event, we met this one hotel staff, whom my friend, Emkay and i fondly call 'GO'. *wink wink* =) Anyway, GO is a really tall, eye-catching guy (for us, at least =P). But instead of being a happy thought, he became the opposite. we kinda had a one sided (our side only! hehehe) love-hate relationship with him because from our very first meeting with him, he'd been nothing but bored with us. hmp. And he didn't even feign interest during the meeting, the jer*.

In that meeting, two other tall, kinda eye-catching front desk guys (who were also jer*s), as well as a very, very nice (and sweet!) housekeeping head - Ms. Mary who always left us fruits and chocolates in our room! - were also present. but we'll focus on GO for now. =)

Of course, we found GO quite, no, VERY - and the most - arrogant of them all, but i guess our curiosity got the better of us. I have to admit, we were very intrigued by him. Call us shallow but we were intrigued mainly because for an Asian, he spoke really good, kinda Brit English, and with a twang. Add to that surprising outbursts of 'great' and 'cool' from him, to which Emkay and i weren't used to, because in dealing with clients/hotel, we usually expect a more formal conversation.

So, just for kicks, when we got back to Manila, Emkay looked GO up on friendster. There was only one GO listed and it was him! we quickly checked the profile, photos and testimonials and well, i'm speechless up to now! =P Imagine late night parties, 'freak me, baby' scenarios, and... I better stop there =) I don't want to go into other details anymore of what we saw and read because... let's just say i want to preserve whatever image of him i last saw. I'm not saying what we saw makes him a bad person or makes him look bad; on the contrary, it makes him more human. Its just now that i've seen another side to him, its kinda difficult picturing him as the aloof, bored GO we actually dealt with.

but i now realize how something as simple and fun as friendster and being yourself can be either a plus or a minus to a professional, from a business point of view, depending on the extent and type of personal info shared. It's nice to know someone on a more personal level than the usual business / formal stuff but sometimes, its like meeting two different people. And like now, i honestly don't know how to deal with GO again on a professional basis without those stuff i read coming to mind. Good thing, we got the 'kick' here in Manila, and not while we were at the event! Also, like how some of our speakers are certified pervs, but we still have to talk with them. God, the horrors we see at the 'after party' (which means, clean up time for us event staff =P). tsk tsk. they're still nice people, but we just constantly need to be on our toes, and always just out of arm's reach, when they're around.

i know, i know, i can't judge them cos I have my own personal stuff on fster and blog etc. But well the lesson is... well I don't really have a point to all my blabbering hehe =P
