Bits and Pieces That Make Me

Oh happy day ^_^
Seventeen years ago, my Dad woke me up at 7 in the morning. I groggily brushed my teeth, and still wearing my pajamas and a shirt, I walked hand in hand with him in that cold December morning, about three blocks down to our favorite haven - Burger Machine. Back then, it was still quite a hit. We each ate a grilled cheese sandwich (our favorite!) and a soda.

It was my birthday.

And yesterday it was his birthday. So after 17 years, we went on a date again. This time, one cold night, I took my dad out for a walk down a quiet park, a block away from where I am staying for the week in Taipei. I looked for a small burger place until I found one, and ordered a rice burger with seaweed and some vegetables, a salad and iced tea (which is really just cold TEA, so it tasted really funny). We talked, we laughed, I cried. Somehow, knowing his parting gift were all the things that I am experiencing now, I still wish he was experiencing it with me.

It was a great day.

Happy Birthday Daddy!
