Stars of the show: these are my real-deal, from-scratch creations. I thought I'd post here how to make the cookies as well, in case some baker wannabe (like me) stumbles upon this page in the future =) Let me be your guiding light =P
We'll start first with the Oatmeal-Raisin Cookies. I got the recipe from All Recipes, otherwise known as Baker's Heaven.
Directions: 1) Pre-heat oven to 375F/190C. Oven toasters with temperature control will work as well. That's what I used on this batch.
2) In a large bowl, cream together butter, white sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until fluffy. In a separate container, stir together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
Gradually beat flour mixture into the butter mixture. Make them 'come together, right now!' (over me) I don't know if it matters which is poured into what, but what I did was to pour the butter into the flour, like when mixing water and cement. It's easier that way.
 Stir in oats and raisins.

Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. No need to dirty your hands while doing this. Just use two teaspoons, fill one up with the cookie batter, and roll it off each other until you make small circular mounds, much like how you'd get ice cream using the rounded... ice cream... taker. haha (where oh where has my English gone?!) If you want flatter, thinner cookies, you can flatten the mounds a bit before baking.
 3) Bake 8-10 minutes in the pre-heated oven or until golden brown. Cool slightly and then remove from the cookie sheet to a wire rack, and then cool completely. In my experience, exactly 8 minutes did it. The cookies were fine - firm and crunchy on the outside; soft and chewy on the inside. But some cookies' bottoms were darker (in other words, sunog!) pero ok lang. If that happens, you may want to consider reducing baking time a bit, until you get the right cookie. And word of advice: don't rely on the oven timer only; use a real countdown timer kung meron on your cellphone.
So up next are the Chocolate Chip Cookies. I got this one from the back of Pillsbury BEST All-Purpose Flour *Enriched* package. You should look for the 14.1 OZ (400g) size, because if you get a different size, the recipe at the back will be different din.
Directions: Follow the procedure outlined above, substituting lang of course the nuts and choc chips for the oats and raisins.

 And Voila! yumyum!

My pride and joy stops here. hehe. The rest of what I made kasi are out of the box lang. Meaning, the mixes are prepared and flavored already, you just need to add water, butter, egg, confectioners sugar, and mashed bananas, as the case may be. Hindi, proud pa rin ako jan, kasi pinaghirapan ko rin naman sila. =) They are OUT OF THE BOX PO! My ready-mix cookies improved din from last time, di na mashadong matigas. Sayang lang yung triple choc-chip, under-baked yata, if ever there was a word. It was the last batch I made, and I was so tired already, that I rushed through it. If you can look at the picture closely, you'll see that a lot of the trip choc-chips are breaking apart. Yun pa naman ang best-seller ko dati.
Pillsbury Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies: Sobrang tamis, chewy on the inside.
Maya (as in maker of the Maya Hotcake Mix) Mix Crinkles: Soft on the inside, but a bit dry. I haven't learned how to make the chewy-and-moist-on-the-inside ones yet.
Maya Mix Butterscotch Brownies: Tastes butter-coconut-ty. Chewy for once. Hindi naging biskwet. Sarap!

Maya Mix Banana Bread: Pwede na, pero need to choose daw which type of banana you put in, according to my uncle. Dapat daw yung Lakatan, para mas matamis (I used Latundan)

The only thing I forgot to do was to cost the production of this whole cookie-making, hehe Because last month, I actually tried selling the ready-mix cookies, to no avail. Well, may 'avail' naman, luging venture nga lang =D So I said the next time I will ever think of selling is when I have learned to make the real stuff. So now that I have learned the stuff, konting practice na lang, and magtatayo na ako ng mobile bakery. =P
By the way, for those who are into baking, you may want to check out the Chocolate Lover, its the cool, chocolate-brown 'castle' somewhere near Horseshoe in San Juan/QC. If I remember correctly, you can see this from the MRT, between Cubao and Santolan-Annapolis Stations, opposite Araneta Center. Its a cake and pastry shop, but at the same time, it carries baking ingredients and accessories, which you can buy in retail or in bulk.
Anyway, yun lang. that's all folks! (aha! my English is backs!)Labels: baking |

alleicarg > thanks! sobrang enjoy nga magbake =) na-compute ko na finally yung nagastos ko, reasonable amount naman - Php 125 for the choc chips and Php 150 ang oatmeal-raisin. =D
