| Ordinary Day |
I got tagged by Macy a few weeks ago, and the instructions were (1) to watch a video of Nick Lachey performing "Ordinary day"; and (2) to answer the question Mitch Albom threw on Oprah: "How would you spend one more day, with someone you loved and lost?"
The lyrics are as follows, but unfortunately, I couldn't view the video anymore. Anyway, the lyrics says it all.
Ordinary Day (Diane Warren)
i wish i could tell you the things i never got to chance too. i wish i was with you now to see you smile again. i wish we had more time, but time goes by so fast. a moment comes and then a moment passes by, in a blink of an eye. and if i had one wish...
i wouldn't ask for money. i wouldn't ask for fame. i wouldn't ask for the power to make this world change. if i could have one thing, that one thing that i would choose is one more ordinary day with you. with you.
i wish i could see you. here where my arms could reach you. i wish i could let you know how much you've touched my life. maybe a little time is all the time we get. the words belong to say are the words that go unsaid. you can't go back again, but if i had one wish
i wouldn't ask for money. i wouldn't ask for fame. i wouldn't ask for the power to make this world change. if i could have one thing, that one thing that i would choose is one more ordinary day. just one more ordinary day....with you. with you.
So of course, my Ordinary Day Award goes to... my parents =) I lost my mom when I was still quite young and at that time, she did most of the work in the family so we seldom spent leisure time with her. I lost my dad at a time I was trying to 'rebelliously find my footing in the world,' so though I spent more time with him, a considerable part of it were misunderstandings and repressed sentiments.
I'd like to spend another day with them just at home with my other siblings. We'd eat all our favorite food: pancit canton, pizza hut (basic cheese), sherbet, grilled cheese sandwich (teka parang puro junk food!); watch TV; play mahjong, Davy and chess; and talk. We'll go out in the afternoon to a mall and go to a nice park - maybe to the La Mesa Ecopark or the Pinto Art Gallery in Antipolo. And then we'll have dinner overlooking the city, and then go back home to Santolan (San Juan). In the evening, we'll do our usual 'evening walk' where Dad would tell us stories again and we'll have our 'Question and Answer Hour.' Dad used to joke about Q&A before - kasi since he knows a lot more than we do, we had the privilege of asking him anything under the sun, and he'd answer as best he could. Sometimes, when we run out of things to ask him and he still wants to walk around, he'd say: "Oh, sasarado na ang Window of Knowledge, bilis bilisan niyo magtanong." hehe =) Then we'd medidate as a family before we all go to sleep, all in one room, with our kulambo and all.
Hay, if only I (or Mitch Albom!) had the power to make this day happen again. Its a bit sad though to think it would have to end in 24 hours. I'll probably not sleep at all. But well, so thats how I would spend that day. How would you? =)
